Paralegals: Don't Burn Bridges
by gillie hayman - Monday, 16 June 2008, 03:06 AM
Anyone in the world

By Laura McDonald Theres a new job on the horizon. You get to leave your old job. You know, the one with the boss you cant stand. The really mean one. The one youd love to give a piece of your mind. Matter of fact, you think youll do just thatbefore you leave. Its perfectly fine to act that one out in fantasy, as many times as delights you. But heed this advice dont do it in reality! And heres why. Life has a funny way of tossing curve balls our way. That very same ex-boss with whom you shared your parting piece of mind? Suddenly, hes opposing counsel on a new case your new attorney boss just accepted. Even worse, he could be your attorneys co-counsel on a case! Perish the thought, but what if for some unforeseen reason, your new job doesnt work out? Now youre scrambling to interview elsewhere. You need a recent recommendation. Its going to be rather awkward to ask the one who vividly recalls you spouting off as you waltzed out the door. One certainly doesnt have to lie when leaving an unpleasant position. Thank you, Mr. Smith, its been great working with you. I couldnt wait to get to work every day. Ill miss you. Thats really piling it on, isnt it? If that were true, why are you leaving? If questioned as to why youre leaving, choose a politically correct comment, such as: I think my skills are better suited to the new position, or The benefits are simply too good to pass up. Then, go the extra mile. Offer to train your replacement. Ensure the workload youre leaving is manageable complete tasks that may be difficult for the new employee to assume. Leave detailed notes regarding ongoing assignments, and an updated list of any deadlines or to-dos for both your boss and your replacement. The best way to leave a job, even a job for the boss you really wont miss, is with style and grace. Never burn bridges. You may have to cross them again! Are you fascinated by trials? A Lesson from the Woman caught in Adultery in John Chapter 8:1-11
by gillie hayman - Thursday, 12 June 2008, 01:58 AM
Anyone in the world
By Matthew Robert Payne It all started pretty innocent. I was a maid in his house and I used to do all of the cleaning and cooking and looking after the young ones. He and the wife were linen traders and they often were away for nights at a time and sometimes his wife was away and he was left at home taking care of the local shop. He was a talker and he liked to sit down with a glass of wine after a meal and have a good chat. He did that with his wife most of the time when the children were in bed but on the few occasions she was away, he came to my room and invited me down for a chat and a couple of wines. I was young and didnt have the body of a lady that had given birth to three children and I was quite funny and easy to joke around with. He liked to question me about my dreams and aspirations and was always fascinated that I was content just helping him and his wife make the house run like clockwork. He knew I wished I had a man of my own, and I made it clear that when I married I wanted a businessman like him. That was another reason I was in their house to learn from them. His wife was a wonderful woman and very driven. She had a hard side to her, and sometimes was short with her husband and the children. She was a fine businesswoman but something was just not right with her and she seemed to lack the gentle spirit and carefree outlook that I had. In two years I had only seen her laugh once and this was to one of my jokes at the dinner table, and yet hed been laughing every time I opened my mouth. I should have shut my mouth and not been such a funny girl, I should have been quiet and reserved and not taken such a keen interest in him, I should have done a lot of things, but we all learn that in hindsight. It was a summers day, and he had laughed a few hearty laughs, and drank a few too many drinks when he grabbed me one day and began to kiss me. At first I was shocked but as he kissed me I had to admit to myself that this was really my secret hearts desire. I had often wondered if I was his wife, could I make him happier and as he kissed me I responded and for a night I saw him very happy. Of course in the morning it was hard for us to be civil with each other. With the sexual union, something had changed and there was tension in the air now as he made it clear that it was only the wine that had allowed him to make such a bad mistake. It isnt very flattering for a girl to lose her virginity to a man that she loved, only to be told in the morning that it was all a mistake and that if it wasnt for the wine he would never have been so stupid. I was going to leave that day but I made the mistake of staying another six months and it happened every time she went away without him. Soon I was reduced to a constant feeling of shame. The lady of the house suspected us from the first week but she was so busy and so driven she must have just put it to the side. But one day out the back when I was hanging the washing out she confronted me with it and in tears I made my confession. She promptly kicked me out with one weeks income and I was homeless and heartbroken. It seems news travels fast in small towns and though people didnt know details the sudden departure from their employ was seen as something I did that was just not right. I couldnt find someone to give me a maids job and the inn where I stayed was demanding the next weeks rent. I was hungry and desperate and had no family to support me and so I pleaded with the innkeeper. I told him if he would let me stay I would not only have sex with him but I would sell my body to other men and he could have 50% of my earnings. The interview went well and when he dressed he said he would spread the word around and it wasnt two hours before I had my first professional client. Good news spreads pretty slowly, but with my young body and good looks, the news of my services spread really fast and before long I had to tell the innkeeper to limit my visitors to the civil and polite ones that I wanted to see. The ones that I didnt like I tossed and the ones that I liked I kept. And that was my mistake. One of the men that had seen me three times before I limited my visitors was a powerful man and he was used to getting what he wanted with his money. He had friends in the synagogue and so he went over and reported me for committing adultery. I was in bed with a client one day, shortly afterward when they stormed into my room. The client was told to dress and leave and then they grabbed me and dragged me out of the inn and away to be stoned. John 8:1-11 (New King James Version) 1 But Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. 2 Now early in the morning He came again into the temple, and all the people came to Him; and He sat down and taught them. 3 Then the scribes and Pharisees brought to Him a woman caught in adultery. And when they had set her in the midst, 4 they said to Him, Teacher, this woman was caught in adultery, in the very act. 5 Now Moses, in the law, commanded us that such should be stoned. But what do You say? 6 This they said, testing Him, that they might have something of which to accuse Him. But Jesus stooped down and wrote on the ground with His finger, as though He did not hear. 7 So when they continued asking Him, He raised Himself up and said to them, He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first. 8 And again He stooped down and wrote on the ground. 9 Then those who heard it, being convicted by their conscience, went out one by one, beginning with the oldest even to the last. And Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. 10 When Jesus had raised Himself up and saw no one but the woman, He said to her, Woman, where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you? 11 She said, No one, Lord. And Jesus said to her, Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more. Never before had I met a man like Jesus Christ. I went back to the inn and packed my bags and returned to the marketplace. After He had finished speaking I asked Him what should I do and what was His advice. He told me to come with Him to the house of a widow that was sick and for me to stay and care for her. She had family that would provide for my meals and give me a stipend and that over the years my honor would be restored. From that day to this, I slept with no other man. Two years after I moved into to care for the widow I went for a six-month journey with Jesus and his Apostles, along with His mother and some other devout women of God. I learned much from Jesus in this time and made it my business from that time to make my life shine for all men to know God more and more. I am sixty five today as I write to you and I have to tell you that life for me has not been that easy. Many people in that town made it hard for me and many people made me think that I would never have a good name, but with Gods grace the followers of Christ embraced me and gave me work enough to keep me happy. Under the Jewish Law I would have been stoned if I had not met that humble carpenter that day. I was guilty of a bad sin and deserving of death and the hellfire. But thanks be to God that Jesus looks to the heart and could see my sin was only a matter of bad circumstance on my part. I grew stronger with my six months with Jesus and I was so happy to have spent such quality time with Mary His mother and Mary Magdalene. If people only knew how special and humble those two women were there would be no women trying to lead the church or enforce their rights to be heard. Jesus often sat quietly as both Marys shared things on their hearts and Jesus was not beyond learning something from another. You dont have to worry how big your sin seems to be. Jesus can free you of that sin if you would just let Him. He has the power and the anointing to heal you and you can be set free if you choose. So confess your sin and walk in freedom today. And in the words of Jesus I leave you. Where is your accuser dear friend? Therefore go and sin no more! Ub92 Medical Claim Forms - When And How To Use Them
by gillie hayman - Saturday, 7 June 2008, 10:28 PM
Anyone in the world
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Michele_Redmond] Michele Redmond UB92 forms are another medical insurance claim form used when you are submitting insurance claims for a facility such as a hospital or drug rehab facility. It is similar to the HCFA1500 but it contains different fields. If you're shopping for UB 92s, you'll find out that although they are not as readily available as HCFA 1500's are, you can find several places to purchase them by doing an internet search. UB 92's can also be filed electronically. You'll need to check with your clearing house to see if they can accept them. Hopefully your medical billing software has the capability to build your own form. Typing these would be ridiculously time consuming! If your medical billing software does not come with the form preloaded, you will have to purchase a software program for UB92s or create your own. We were fortunate in that Michele has a computer science degree and had no problem writing our program. Several software programs are available by doing a search on the internet. If you are not familiar with this forms and find yourself in a position where you need to be using them, you may want a book called the UB92 Editor. This book explains each field and designates which fields are mandatory by individual insurance companies and is extremely helpful in learning how to submit theses forms. Instead of using CPT codes to describe the services performed, you would use 'rev codes.' UB 92's are traditionally used mostly for hospital billing. But outpatient clinics may also be required to use them in billing. If a clinic is established as a facility, the reimbursment rates are different (usually higher) than if they were classified as a servicing provider. In order to be reimbursed at the higher facility rates, the billing must be submitted on a UB 92 form. Michele Redmond is co-owner of Solutions Medical Billing with her mother Alice Scott. Together they are responsible for the billing for over 50 medical providers. Finding the Right Adoption Agency
by gillie hayman - Tuesday, 3 June 2008, 03:31 PM
Anyone in the world
By Michael Russell Adoption services and agencies are one of the most remarkable services in the world, because of the emotions involved. These are places where families who have been longing for years to have a child of their own are matched with children who have been orphaned by circumstances and in need of what they can call a family of their own. Adoption services have brought so much relief and happiness to an untold number of people worldwide. Adopting a child is always a joyful thing to both the adoptive parents and the adopted child but it's not all roses. The adoption process can also be a frustrating and confusing experience; therefore, it is always very important to make the right choice of adoption agency. There are several things that should be considered before deciding that an adoption agency is good enough for you. Adoption agencies are usually licensed by the state authority and are subjected to rigorous inspections and regulations, which are carried out periodically, to ensure optimum services. Most agencies have staff scattered in different countries of the world who are on the agency's regular payroll. These staff members are required to aid international adoption. Such an arrangement is better than hiring individuals who only work in cooperation with the agency. An agency with international staff strength is bound to be more effective. This an important question to ask when dealing with an adoption agency, especially one that claims to be international in operation. Another thing to consider when going in search of an adoption service is your budget. The whole process make a hole in your pocket, especially when you are not so buoyant financially. Depending on your pocket, your choice of service could vary. For those with a large budget, a private sector agency would be the best option. These agencies would help you research potential children available for adoption based on your criteria, however, the limitation to the use of such service is the price involved. Most families will not be able to afford such services in addition to adoption fees, travel costs, and other costs associated with adopting a child. A more budget-friendly option is the not-for-profit sources and social service agencies. Nevertheless, whatever your budget and choice of adoption service, before opting for an adoption service, you will have to consider what you know about the agency. Where are they located and what service would they provide to you? Are they affiliated with government agencies, healthcare services or churches? The more that you know about the service, the better you can be prepared. To get first hand information on whatever service you want to use, you may have to first contact your state's licensing office to see if the agency's license is up to date. The Better Business Bureau (BBB) would be a good place to see if the agency has had any serious case files against it. You could also surf the Internet and make contacts with individuals who have used this particular agency's service in the past and hear what they think of it. You will find several chat rooms and news bulletin board that allow such communication and contacts. Alternatively, you could request a list of previous clients from the agency itself, arrange to meet them and hear what they think of the agency and how satisfied they were with their service. No information is too much to protect you from the heartbreak that accompanies a failed adoption attempt. In addition, an adoption agency should not mind telling you how they operate. You need to know what process they follow in connecting you with the baby you want to adopt. You have to know how the children and parents are selected and what you need to do to be qualified for the service. You also need to know what the agency does for legal matters. How involved do they want to be, legally? For instance, what happens when the birth mother decides to change her mind? Will the adoption agency handle the legal paperwork for you, or are they going to leave you to your fate. You have to know the roles of the birth parents in the whole process, to avoid interference from them when the adoption process is over. You deserve privacy and freedom with your adopted child, just like any other parent. You will also have to know where the babies are coming from and how they were gotten; to be sure it's completely legal. You will need this, and much more information, to choose the right adoption service and to ensure that you will be getting an excellent service and a flawless and joyful adoption experience. ------------------------------------------------------- Michael Russell Your Independent guide to Adoption ------------------------------------------------------- Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Michael_Russell http://EzineArticles.com/?Finding-the-Right-Adoption-Agency&id=122027 personal loan quote guaranteed personal loan with bad credit no payday need cash now cash advance
Do-It-Yourself Free Reverse Cell Phone Lookup Search Strategy Revealed
by gillie hayman - Friday, 30 May 2008, 06:56 AM
Anyone in the world
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Chad_Kiser]Chad Kiser Although there are many services online that can provide you with access to detailed telephone databases to assist you with conducting reverse cell phone lookup searches, these services are rarely free. To get the information youre after, you will normally end up paying a fee per search or a one-time fee to access databases and tools. There is, however, an insider trick to conducting your own free reverse cell phone lookup searches. Grab your pen and paper and follow along with me using the number you need to trace as we walk through this exercise. If youre like most citizens of this great planet, you probably visit Google, Yahoo or some other search engine on a daily basis (if not daily, at least several times per week). These search engines roam the Internet constantly indexing new websites and web pages into their vast databases. You can harness the power of Googles search database to conduct your own free reverse cell phone number search. Everyday, people all over the Internet unknowingly make their unlisted phone numbers and cell phone numbers publicly available over the Internet. How do they do this? Maybe they lost a dog or theyre trying to sell a car and they take out a classified ad in their local newspaper. Most newspapers nowadays publish their entire paper, including the classified section, on their websites. If the person buying the ad put their cell phone or unlisted phone number in the ad, there is a high probability that phone number is now available to search. In addition to newspaper classifieds, people also use their cell phone numbers when they register on websites, participate in message boards and many other online endeavors. Each time they put their number down, a search engine spider is going to find it! How does this help you and your free reverse cell phone search? Take the phone number youre searching for and input it into the search box on your favorite search engine. Remember to try the different variations people use for phone numbers. For example, some people write their phone number in a format like 555-555-5555 while others will put it down as 555.555.5555. There are many, and I do mean many, ways people will format their phone numbers. Try these different variations into the search engine. Try it with and without quotation marks as this will sometimes help you get better search results. In our tests, this strategy works about 40-50 percent of the time, although it often takes quite a bit of time to consider all of the variations a person may put their phone number down in. Once you get a hit on the number, your next step is to investigate the website you found it on to see if it offers any clues to the cell phone number owners identity. Sometimes all you will find is the actual number listed and youre back to where you started. Other times youll get only a first name and no last name. Sometimes you hit the jackpot and get the full name, address and more of the owner. Like I mentioned earlier, it can take hours to get to this point. If you dont have hours to invest in conducting your own free reverse cell phone lookup, I suggest considering one of the other services available to make your search faster. Discover the Thrill of Model Airplane Combat
by gillie hayman - Tuesday, 27 May 2008, 09:10 PM
Anyone in the world
By Bruce Bird The sport of model airplane combat has been around now for decades and in recent years has grown exponentially. The human race is naturally competitive and it's only natural that modelers are going to find a way to pit their flying skills against each other. In combat, competitors tie a lengthy streamer to the rear of their model, and take to the skies in an attempt to cut their opponents streamer with their propeller or wing. Category after category has been created to allow all sorts of planes to enter combat. What used to be reserved for balsa and ply-wood built planes has now expanded to allow for much more durable RC model airplanes that are even capable of surviving mid-air collisions (sometimes!). Balsa, Foam, and SPAD model airplanes all take to the skies to see who is Top Dog. Combat clubs can be found in just about every country on the planet. The two largest RC model airplane combat associations are the Radio Control Combat Association (RCCA) and the National Sports Combat Club (NSCC). Just about every model airplane combat group has one thing in common. Your model airplane and you competitor's must both fall into the same category to make the combat fair. A few examples of these classes are; Slow Survivable Combat (SSC), Open Classes, and Scale. Each of these classes have strict requirements about the size of the engine used, the overall weight of the aircraft, the size of the prop, and in some cases even the shape of the fuselage must conform to the rules. At one time model airplane combat got pretty fast and furious with high speeds and a high attrition rate as planes ploughed into each other and into the ground. The Slow Surviveable Class was developed to counter this tendency and the rules produce a big, slow flying airplane without an excess of power. As a result, this class is much more suitable for beginners, the models survive much better and can often be used for other forms of flying. When fighting in the SSC class, a single round of combat lasts 5 minutes. You must have a .15 engine and your airplane is required to weigh no less than 2.5 pounds. There are no restrictions on your airplane's wingspan, but the overall wing area must be at least 400 square inches. All combating RC model airplanes use an unmodified Master Airscrew 8x3 prop and the maximum allowable RPM is 17,500rpm at launch. RPM testing is often performed before combat starts to make sure everyone is conforming to the rules. The other classes of combat, Open Classes and Scale, all have different rules and restrictions regarding weight, engine, and appearance but the objective of all of them is to ensure that it is the skill of the pilot that is being tested and not the airplane. What all of these classes do have in common is some sort of point system. Combat contestants earn points for things such as cutting their opponents streamers, continuous flying during combat, launching within the set time limit, as well as points for every foot of streamer left when landing. Points can also be deducted for not engaging an opponent in combat. Pilots that avoid fights will be penalized. If your model airplane crosses various safety lines which define the combat area this will also earn penalty deductions. Model airplane combat whether RC or Control Line can add a very exciting element to an already enjoyable hobby. So what's holding you back? Give it a try, inquire with other flyers at your local flying field. Large combat associations might have strict rules, but feel free to make up your own when you set out pit your model airplane flying skills against your friends. 10 Table Manners Every Family Should Practice
by gillie hayman - Friday, 23 May 2008, 11:23 PM
Anyone in the world
By Dee Davis Today there is tons of information both in book form and on the Internet addressing business etiquette and how to behave at that all important power lunch. Unfortunately, table manners used at home have all but disappeared. Families are moving through their day at such a fast pace that table manners have become almost an inconvenience. Why eat with a fork when Spanish Tapas, Wing Dings, Pizza, and soup you can literally drink from the bottle are all the craze. What happen to sitting down to a nutritious meal and enjoying the fellowship of your family and friends. Are we doomed to continue living the life of fast food and fast health food junkies. Does eating healthier mean we still dont have time to stop and smell the cilantro in the salad? When did it become fashionable to eat in public and walk around with a mocha caramel chocolate espresso super chai extravaganza in your hand while shopping in the mall. We need to back up and remember our children are watching our every move. So when they run in with a can of Red Bull (an energy drink ladened with caffeine) and swat you off like a fly on the wall, dont complain; it is you who must teach them to slow down and take time to enjoy lifes little pleasures. How do you start? Here are 10 suggestions for creating family rules regarding manners at home and at the dining table: 1. When dining at a friend or family members home, always arrive on time, they really dont have to wait more than 15 minutes for you before serving dinner. 2. Always use a napkin. Dont assume that your mouth is large enough to catch every crumb, its not. 3. Learn to use a knife and a fork, they go together for a reason. 4. Always say Please and Thank You. Really! 5. Bacon can be eaten with the fingers or a fork. The next time you grim someone eating their bacon with their fingers, know that its prim and proper. 6. Sandwiches should be cut in half and eaten from the fingers. Parents remember at fast food restaurants or any restaurant, ask the cook to cut sandwiches in half or quarter them, it really makes life better for your little one. 7. When food accidents happen, and they will, a simple apology is best. It is not necessary to embarrass your children or others involved in the incident. This is one time when less is truly more. 8. Everyone in your family should make a point of practicing good table manners. Remind your family members that when they are out and about, they are a representation of the type of home they come fromso represent well. 9. Always follow up a formal or informal dining experience with a thank note. This can be in the form of a phone call, fax, email or Hallmark. 10. Parents should document special dining engagements and write down family traditions. Is there a special prayer that is always recited at Thanksgiving? Does Grandma ask a special questions during the family New Year Celebration? Dont have a special dining tradition? Start one. There is no better time than the present. D. Davis is a writer with over 20 years of experience, and has produced a series of e-Books that support parents in creating a good life for their family. Daylilies - The Perfect Perennial
by gillie hayman - Tuesday, 20 May 2008, 11:33 PM
Anyone in the world
By Briscoe White Common Names: Daylily, tawny lily, lemon lily Botanical Name: Hemerocallis. Family: Liliaceae. The botanical name comes from the Greek hemera (day) and kallos (beauty). Daylilies are so named because each bloom lasts only one day. Each stem produces a number of buds and flowering occurs over a long period. Daylilies are a superior garden plant because they withstand heat well, are pest free and will grow in almost any soil. However, remember that daylilies do not like wet feet. Daylily colors span the spectrum from near white to yellow, pink, orange, purple and red. As long as they receive enough sunlight, daylilies will grow in any well drained soil, but will respond with more blooms and divisions in rich soil with regular watering. One of our favorite varieties is: STELLA de ORO: this variety has received a lot of attention in recent years. Given favorable conditions, it will bloom from May until frost. We have a large bed along the side of our nursery office, and have found regular watering is critical for reblooming. Stella de Oro is golden yellow, and grows twelve inches high. It is and excellent border or specimen plant. Daylilies are wonderful planted enmasse, or equally at home in the cottage garden planted among other perennials. In 1985, Briscoe White opened The Growers Exchange in an abandoned Texaco station on a busy urban street corner in Richmond, Virginia. The facility has grown over the years, and is now 5 distinct growing environments with 5 acres under cover. Briscoe has over 25 years of gardening experience. How To Establish A Base Tan Without Getting Burned
by gillie hayman - Sunday, 18 May 2008, 06:57 PM
Anyone in the world
By Angie Maroevich Lets face it. A nice tan makes you look and feel great. Plus, it can hide ugly cellulite and also make you appear thinner! If you are going on a trip or you simply want to look good for an event thats coming up, its important to establish a base tan. Here are some 10 indoor tanning steps to help you achieve a nice base tan without getting burned*. By the way, if you are hesitant about using an indoor tanning bed but want to get a tan, try a UV-free spray tan like Mystic Tan. Otherwise, the steps below will help guide you through the UV indoor tanning process: 1. Be careful if you are on any prescription medications: blood pressure medications, antibiotics, skin problem medications are just a few categories of drugs you preferably should not be taking if you are tanning or spending lots of time outdoors. Refer to the photosensitizing medication chart in your local tanning salon to be sure the medications you are taking are not listed. These medications can effect the results of your tanning, making it more difficult to tan and you are more prone to burning. 2. Always use a good quality indoor tanning lotion. It will help your skin to absorb the UV, which will aid in the tanning process. There are also special ingredients that stimulate melanin production, such as Tyrosine, which will give you the most out of every tanning session. Your skin tends to dry out during the tanning process and if you dont use a good quality indoor tanning lotion, your skin will exfoliate faster, become more dry and flaky, and you will lose your tan faster. So the bottom line: for a deeper, darker, longer lasting tan, you need to use quality indoor tanning lotion. Its best to apply indoor tanning lotion immediately prior to your session or 1-2 hours prior is even better if you can. Applying it ahead of time allows your skin to absorb the lotion better so you will get the best results from your tanning session. 3. Apply after tan lotion as well to take care of your skin and keep it moisturized. Apply it twice daily at a minimum to keep your skin happy, once in the morning and again at night before bed. This also can enhance your tan and make it longer lasting- the key to a great tan is healthy skin! 4. If you are just beginning to tan, remember to start out conservative. Whatever you do, you dont want to burn- you cannot tan on top of a burn and you will have to start over. The old saying I always burn first and then I tan is completely false, it simply does not have to be this way. If you burn, your skin is telling you that its getting too much sun, and then you will peel. So start out with a low number of minutes and work your way up. If you have fair skin but do have the ability to tan, you should not go more than 6-7 minutes your first time in a standard 20 minute tanning bed (also known as a Level 1 tanning bed). For stronger beds with shorter tan times, you would go for even less minutes. 5. Go once every 24-48 hours to build your base. Depending on how well your skin is doing, you can decide whether you can go once a day or once every other day. A good rule of thumb is if your skin is not pink within the 24 hours after your session, you can probably go again the next day without any problem. If your skin is pink, feels dry and itchy, or you get a rash, this is a signal that you went for too many minutes and need to take a break until it feels better and then start over again. 6. Once you build up your base, you really dont need to tan as often. So depending on the type of bed you are using, you should only go 2-3 times per week to keep your tan, even less in stronger beds. This is where I see many people go overboard, tanning every day when it is really not necessary. Many people enjoy the relaxation time that tanning provides, but tanning too often can and will speed up your aging process and potentially cause other skin ailments over a long period of time. Just like everything else in life, moderation is key! 7. Wear eye goggles at all times! Many people think that putting a towel over their face will block the UV rays, but it doesnt and repeated UV exposure can cause major eye problems later in life. Would you rather be blind or have lighter eyelids? I think I would choose the latter, but that is just me. For your own safety, please wear the eye goggles! 8. Since indoor tanning does not require the use of a bathing suit, use a towel to cover those sensitive areas that dont see the sun very often if you want to tan all over. In the beginning, try covering those areas for half the session and see how it goes. Gradually you can remove the towel earlier and earlier until you dont need to use one anymore. The towel acts as a filter but wont completely block the UV rays, so you are still getting the tanning process started. 9. To avoid getting creases or pressure tanning lines, you should move your limbs into different positions during your session. For the first half, try laying down with both arms extended above your head and legs apart. For the second half, bring your arms down next to your sides but away from your body, and re-position your legs by raising one knee slightly for a half of the remaining time, and then the other leg do the same thing. 10. Try to avoid wearing make-up, deodorant, or other perfumes prior to tanning. Some of these things can make your skin more sensitive and possibly have a bad reaction with your skin when exposed to UV. If you wear a lot of deodorant, you may notice that you are not tanning as well around your armpits, and you need to remove this prior to tanning. When it comes to tanning, every persons skin type is different and results will vary. Consult with your local tanning salon for a skin type analysis (from a Smart Tan Certified Tanning Consultant) so you can get a good idea of where to start. * Also, ask your doctor for his or her advice if you have any specific medical questions or concerns. 2005 Angela Maroevich ================================================================ Angela Maroevich (everyone calls her Angie) is a salon owner, entrepreneur, and athlete. Avoid Food Therapy

By Justin Meyer Depression sometimes leads to weight loss. More often than not, it leads to weight gain. Sitting around and snacking can be very comforting; it is called food therapy. Eating junk food to make you feel better. Ordering in pizza because it makes you feel better. Snacking on chips all day and candy all night. Chocolate is an especially bad, because of the way it interacts with your brain. So how do you kick this habit? There are a couple of good ways. The first one is to remove all junk food from your house. If you live alone, this is easy to do. If you live with others, it is more difficult. What you can do instead, is move all junk food to one cabinet, one that you studiously avoid. However, knowing that the food is available to you makes it harder to resist. That is simply human nature. The second thing to do is begin a hobby that involves your hands. By finding a hobby that you can do with your hands, such as knitting or drawing or even video games, you will be keeping yourself occupied, and keeping your hands occupied as well. As long as they are busy, it is harder for you to snack. Since most people snack while sitting around doing nothing, depressed people are more at risk of over-eating. Another option is to start snacking on vegetables. Baby carrots are perfect for this. Instead of snacking on potato chips or cookies, pull out celery sticks. That way, if you are going to snack, you will do so in a healthy manner and you will find that it will help your depression. Finally, speak with your therapist. Since this is not an uncommon problem, you might find that he or she can suggest other things for you to do, or other ways for you to eliminate this urge.
