Farm Fresh Flowers
by gillie hayman - Monday, 12 May 2008, 06:45 PM
Anyone in the world
By Steve Valentino For those who love flowers, they splurge a considerable portion of their fortunes in decorating every corner of their homes and offices. And when it comes to choosing flowers, be it Orchids, Roses, Red and White Tulips, White stargazers red, Stargazer lilies et al, the prime consideration is freshness. No wonder every florist in town promises or offers the freshest flowers. And why not, the technology to preserve flowers longer is here. Whether it is your local florist or your online flower vendor, everyone is making a beeline for flower farms the world over. The reason is simple, the exotic the flower, the priceless it is. With no dearth in demand from homes, offices, star hotels, resorts and restaurants alike, more money is being pumped into by farm owners and to introduce new technology to deliver farm fresh flowers to any corner of the world within the shortest time span. Roses grown in India are much in demand in the US and European markets during peak seasons such as Christmas, New Year, Valentine's Day etc., so much so that the domestic market supply becomes critically low. Same is the case with exotic flowers and foliage from other South-Eastern Asian countries and countries from various parts of Europe. World's best and biggest courier agencies work extra hours to meet emergency deadlines. Specialist packers move in to give the buds the extra life. The world's biggest insurance agencies are involved, and big time money changes hands across the continents. For if it is not delivered fresh, its better it is not delivered at all. The price of farm fresh exotic flowers starts somewhere around USD 50 for a small bouquet and the top price goes over USD 100, depending upon the flower, origin, longevity and freshness level. During peak seasons, these become priceless commodities. Fresh Flowers provides detailed information on Fresh Flowers, Fresh Cut Flowers, Fresh Flower Arrangements, Wholesale Fresh Flowers and more. Fresh Flowers is affiliated with Names Of Spring Flowers. Tea and Eyes Beauty
by gillie hayman - Sunday, 4 May 2008, 05:28 PM
Anyone in the world
By John Gibb For people who suffer every morning from puffy eyes or have to cover the bags under their eyes, apart from purchasing expensive cosmetic creams to reduce the symptoms perhaps it is wise to try out one of the oldest natural remedies: a couple of tea bags. If you consider it, it is at least worth the try, as your eyes are, apart from the windows or your soul, also the focal point of your face. Thus, you should take good care of them and devote the necessary time to reveal their own special beauty. Having tired, baggy eyes can add years to your age, while sparkling ones can brighten your face and give you a more youthful appearance. Remember that it is vital to care for the delicate area around them and tea or tea bags can help you reveal the best set of eyes. Just like when you are feeling tired you reach your kitchens cabinet to grab some of your favorite tea brand and relax, the same should your reaction be in case you wake up in the morning and witness the symptom of puffy eyes in your bathrooms mirror. Chances are that if your body is tired your eyes will show it. Swollen, red or puffy eyes are indicators of fatigue and it is important to be aware of the fact that the black tea bags you place into your favorite mug can also offer your eyes immediate relief. The restorative effect of black tea is so apparent that it will surprise you how quickly this simple process can reduce your problem and its occurrence. From the night before, you should boil water and put two tea bags in it like you would if you were going to make tea. After brewing for 5 minutes, take the tea bags out and ring out the liquid. Next, place both tea bags into your kitchens freezer. You need to have them cool, but not frozen. Keep them in the freezer for 10-15 minutes and then take them out, lay down, relax and put the tea bags over the puffy ears over your eyes. Leave them there for approximately another 10-15 minutes, turning them over half way through. Afterwards, remove the tea bags and dispose of them. Then rinse your face with cool water to remove any tea stains. Make sure you rinse off any residue carefully with a cold damp tissue or face cloth. In addition, warm tea bags might be more relaxing on a cold winter day, and it has been found to reduce under eye puffiness just as well as the cold tea bags. If you do drink tea often you can begin saving the two wet tea bags from your tea pot while they are still warm careful, not hot! Then you should again select a comfortable spot in your home, be it the bed, the couch or the floor. Place a towel where your head will be resting to prevent leaking and staining. Lie down, place one black tea bag over each eye after closing your eyes first and relax for just five minutes. Deep breathing will increase your oxygen intake while you rest and promote increased energy levels. You'll be amazed at how much wider open your eyes will feel and how quickly soreness will be reduced. This simple, old-fashioned home remedy is a true gift. There is always the option of buying special eyes tea bags from your local pharmacy or beauty store, but any black tea bag works just as well and is certainly more economical. Weight Loss Tips: Asking Better Questions for Faster Weight Loss
by gillie hayman - Friday, 2 May 2008, 06:10 AM
Anyone in the world
By Kathryn Martyn, M.NLP The reason EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) and NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) (see resource box below) can be very effective for making rapid change in your life is because they address the real issue. There is no endless analysis and trying to figure out why you do something or why something happens. Why ask why? It doesn't matter why. If you have an issue, you have an issue. The why is not important. Uncovering the why isn't going to solve anything, in fact, the endless seeking of answers allows us to excuse bad behavior in ourselves and others. Coming up with reasons why rarely works because the tendency never to be convinced begins, "Are you sure? Maybe it's something else?" and off we go on another snipe hunt. (The snipe is a made-up thing children often are tricked into on a snipe hunt (snipe hunting is a children's game where the unsuspecting child is told to seek something that the other's know doesn't really exist). Why We Need To Know Why If you were hurt by the actions of another you may believe you'll never get past it without knowing why. That's not true. The other person may not know why, so how can you? You may think with a why you could then explain the bad behavior away, but there is no justifiable reason for being treated poorly. None. Someone else's personal problems does not give them the right to treat others badly. Asking why may seem to ease the emotional upset but it's an exercise in futility. You'll never know for sure, and it begins the endless cycle trying to answer unanswerable questions. Why doesn't matter. Start working on the here and now. Stop asking WHY, and start asking HOW or WHAT. How can I make things better for myself and my family? How can I feel better? How can I bring myself back to better health? What can I do today that will bring me closer to my goal? How and why questions give your subconscious mind something to work with. It's a bit like a puzzle and the subconscious mind loves puzzles. When a good idea pops into your mind it's your subconscious presenting an idea in answer to your earlier "how" or "what" question. Your subconscious will help when you give it better questions. Changing the How: Asking Better Questions Think of at least three How or Why questions, and write them down. Questions you may have previously been asking as Why questions, and when you catch yourself saying why, change it to how or what: "Why am I fat" becomes, "What can I do differently to lose 10 pounds?" "Why can't I lose this weight," becomes, "How can I adjust my patterns to support losing the weight I want?" Why questions can only be answered with further evidence that you can't or don't think you can. In other words, asking yourself why questions causes your brain to try to come up with answers or evidence to prove why. If you ask, "Why can't I lose any weight?" your brain will helpfully put tempting foods, party plans, magazine covers with food, invitations out, etc. in front of you all day long. It's providing you answers of exactly why. That's not what you want. You want ideas for what to do differently (what questions are good too) or how to change. Ask how, what, where or even when, but leave why alone. Read these aloud and see what you think. If this makes sense to you, try it. If you think it's the darndest dumb thing you've ever heard, take a pass. You're free to take the ideas you like and put them to use and toss the rest aside. That's the fun of designing an eating style that works for you and helps you support your goals. "I'll never be able to stop eating ..." (not helpful thinking) becomes "How can I start eating better?" "I hate my thighs" becomes "What exercises can I try to change my legs?" "Even if I lose this weight, I'll never be able to keep it off." becomes "What can I do differently this time?" Start asking better questions and you're bound to start getting better answers. ~~ Kathryn Martyn, Master NLP Practitioner, EFT counselor, Weight Loss Coach, owner of One More Bite Weight Loss is the author of "Changing Beliefs, Your First Step to Permanent Weight Loss." Collective Good - Cell Phone Recycling Benefits Society
by gillie hayman - Tuesday, 29 April 2008, 05:59 AM
Anyone in the world
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=James_Mosieur]James Mosieur Collective good is broadly defined as all that is good for all people in a given community. Some organizations claim their product or service adds to the collective good, some preach that the virtues of their operation benefit the collective good. Some have even named their companies after the term hoping in some way to veil their true motivation making a profit. To be sure, there are plenty of ways that business can help society. Green businesses, in particular, employ people, add to our GDP, help the environment, and make a profit. These types of operations are truly working for the collective good of their community. One business model in particular that has all the traits of a green business is cell phone recycling. More than two thirds of the US population (200 million) uses a cell phone. Of those 200 million subscribers, over 11 million (5.5%) retire their old cell phone every month. There is no argument that this tiny electronic device has been woven into the fabric of society. Some claim that because of the small size of the average cell phone its easy for a consumer to simply trash it. Maybe one person trashing a cell phone doesnt seem like much but surveys suggest that each of the 200 million cell phone subscribers have 2.5 old cell phones shoved in a desk drawer or stored in a closet somewhere in their home or office. Imagine if all those cell phones, 500 million in all, were discarded in household trash over the course of a year. Over 80,000 tons of additional waste would be generated. This is not common household waste that becomes fertilizer. It has the potential to pollute. It is common knowledge that electronic waste, or e-waste, contains toxins that are harmful to the environment. Electronic circuit boards in cell phones contain toxins such as arsenic, cadmium, lead, and mercury; just to name a few. Research has shown that cell phones, when disposed in landfill conditions, leach hazardous levels of lead. One cell phone leaching lead into soil and groundwater may not be a big dealbut 500 million of themthis could be a problem. It is easy to see how cell phone recycling becomes a benefit to society in general - a benefit to the collective good. To be fair though, we need to remember this is a potential environmental problem. The likelihood of all 200 million cell phone subscribers tossing their old cell phones in the garbage in the next 12 months is slim. Still, if they did, landfill managers say that their collection facilities would sift out most of the e-waste, cell phones included. And if a small percentage actually made it to the trash pile, the construction of the landfill would not allow toxins to leach into the environment. But even if the environmental danger is mitigated there exists a financial benefit to the collective good. According to data collected from cell phone recycling web sites, the average value of a cell phone retired in the last 18 months is well over $10. Do the math - in the last 30 days $110 million dollars worth of cell phones were just tossed aside. In fact, the top cell phone recycling companies as a whole claim that they have recycled only about $20 million dollars worth of retired cell phones in the first ten months of 2005. They also estimate that all cell phone recycling efforts only manage to collect, at best, between 3 and 5% of all cell phones retired on an annual basis. Using these numbers, the argument can be made that more than $1 billion worth of cell phones are retired annually and left to rot. The longer a cell phone sits the less it is worth, its value declining, rotting away, as each day passes. Just imagine if every person sent their old cell phones to a single location to be recycled. What could society do with $1 billion dollars? Could it be used for the collective good? The answer is obvious; the solution is not. At this point in time there is not one effective national cell phone initiative. Most are big company afterthoughts or undercapitalized small company efforts, all of these initiatives face the same enemy; ignorance. The potential tidal wave of cell phone waste sits idle in the homes of America held back, not by education, but awareness. Surveys suggest that 90% of Americans would recycle their cell phone if there was a convenient way to do it. What most dont realize is that there are hundreds of convenient ways. From drop-off locations to web-sites, hundreds of low or no cost cell phone recycling options exist, the problem is most people are not aware they exist. When we consider the environmental and financial benefits its obvious that cell phone recycling does add to the collective good. But the challenge is getting the word out. With so many options there is no reason for any cell phone to be tossed. With just a little web searching anyone can find a convenient, no cost cell phone recycling solution. So next time you upgrade your old cellphone or change to another service provider do your part for the environment, for your community, for our collective good recycle your old cell phone. Marry the Wrong Person, and You Will Be Sorry

By Terry Hernon MacDonald With the divorce rate near 50% , you'd think people wouldn't hightail it up to the altar without checking out a potential spouse thoroughly first. Take Michele (not her real name), who is engaged to Robert (also not his real name). Robert's friends have warned Michele that he has a "dark side" and to tread carefully. When he phones, the number on his caller ID comes up with another woman's name (which may be perfectly innocent, but why not make sure?) He claims to be one age but looks at least 15 years older. On top of this, Robert has told Michele she should lose weight. The man is also reluctant to part with a buck. Once, as she drove him to a doctor's appointment in her own car with gas she paid for, he requested she stop at Dunkin Donuts. When he asked him to bring her a cup of coffee, he actually had the nerve to ask her for money. Despite the questions about Robert's character, Michele wants to marry him. Why? Because she says she's not "getting any younger," and she wants to have a baby. It's a dream of hers. Her father and friends are not happy about her engagement, and they've been vocal about it. They fear for her; they're certain Robert will never make her--or anybody besides himself--happy. But Michele has ignored their protests. Too many women marry the wrong men (when they'd be much happier by themselves) because they want their "big day,"or they (falsely) believe their lives will not be complete unless they produce children. Michele had the good fortune to get a warning from her fiance's friend, but she ignored it. Others aren't as fortunate to get a friendly tip-off and must look for--and be willing--to see the signs themselves. One woman who didn't see the signs is now the mother of two small children. When she met her husband at church, she was thrilled to be dating a "like-minded" Christian. After their wedding, she learned the hard way that he is actually a lazy, belittling, alcoholic (and caught him driving while under the considerable influence with their son in the car). She's currently in the process of getting a divorce. How do you know for sure that you're getting involved with a man who'll make you happy? First off, be willing to see the signs. Don't be paranoid (it's unnecessary, and it's such a turn-off) but do be clear-eyed. Don't lie to yourself: Are you dating a guy because you like him, or have you talked yourself into putting up with him because you want to get married? Marriage can be the best thing you ever do, but only if you marry the right guy for the right reasons. Don't get caught up some fantasy and bind yourself for life to a jerk you should have rejected. A Guide To Japanese Gardens

By Charles Truett Ready for something different in your garden? Take a look at Japanese bridges. These beautiful ornamental bridges bring the Far East right into your back yard or garden. Japanese bridges add elegance to gardens and look beautiful when placed over a koi pond or Japanese style dry river bed. There are many flowers, shrubs and trees that compliment Japanese bridges also. If you are interested in Japanese bridges for your garden you may want to look online for ideas and suggestions. There are excellent sites that not only feature the bridges but have information about planning an entire garden space in the Japanese style. Many of the designs for these Japanese bridges are taken from ancient drawings. The Japanese bridges are graceful and unique. Place a Japanese bridge in your garden and create a space to meditate, a quiet area for contemplation and dreaming. These are just a few of the benefits of having a Japanese bridge. You might want to begin planning a Japanese bridge by surveying the space you have to work with. Make sure the Japanese bridge is the correct size. The Japanese bridge will not look as lovely as it should if it is too big or too small for the area. Think carefully about the other things you will have in the space. You will want to coordinate the flowers, trees and any other ornamental elements you plan to use. If you have a pond you will need to determine the best Japanese bridge for the pond. Plan carefully and you will be able to add a little Oriental flair to your yard even if you live in New York City! We have a large number of styles and varieties of garden bridges available online. Rose Gardening
by gillie hayman - Sunday, 20 April 2008, 06:54 AM

By Edvard Kurnik Roses are universally favorite plants. The bright vibrant hues give gardens a splash of color. You can smell the heady perfume of roses during summer as they fill the air. With so many different varieties to choose from rose gardening is a marvelous experience. While its true that there many roses that you can choose from, the type is not important. What is important is that you plant them where you can reap the benefits later on. Roses are hardy plants. With so many gardeners breeding new hardy varieties, roses can now grow in any type of condition. Difficult soil and garden problems are no longer a barrier to well grown rose gardens. The key to rose gardening lies in buying plants that are at least two years old, that have been field grown and are budded. If your young rose plants are pruned then the heavy stems need to be 1/4 inches in diameter at the top. On the other hand if the rose plant is not pruned, then there should be three or more heavy stems that are 18 inches in diameter. You need to plant your roses in a sunny, well-drained spot. You should trim of all the bruised and broken stems off. In rose gardening roses needed to be eased into the ground. You first dig a hole 6 inches deeper than the rose roots need, then make the hole wide and big all around so that the roots will not grow crowded or bent. The bottom of the hole should have small rocks or pebbles in it. This rock formation will aid in the drainage for the roses. After the stones have been placed, mix one tablespoon of fertilizer over the stones. Above this lay good fertile soil until the level is where you will plant your rose plant. In the mound of soil make a small hole and carefully plant your rose bush in there. You will need to make sure that the hole has room for the roots. Then cover the roots with soil, firming the soil every so often. Rose gardening requires that you feed your roses at regular intervals to ensure healthy growth. The first feeding should therefore be given in early spring, before the roses bloom. The second feeding will come after the first heavy blossoming is finished. The third feeding occurs in late summer. If you are lucky there might be roses that will bloom until about November. If this is the case, then feed your plants a fourth time around While all this care does help in rose gardening, chemical pesticides are needed to prevent sucking and chewing insects from damaging your roses. This pesticide also works to cut down on the fungus that likes to grow on roses. Rose gardening is a lovely pleasant smelling hobby to do. If you take care of your plant during the initial days, then you will be rewarded with big, vibrant blossoms that are a joy to behold. Corporate World: Jungle Or Paradise?
by gillie hayman - Thursday, 17 April 2008, 06:12 AM
Anyone in the world
By Severo Santos The road to the top is not easy, it is bumpy and dirty. Along the way, we meet interesting creatures. There are seasons in life when we will be at crossroads and choose a path based on what is important in our life. Either way may lead us to our goal, but the means to get there is different. While we have control over the choices we make, we don't have control over the consequences. The cost of our actions are governed by natural and spiritual laws that were set in place a long time ago. The corporate world is the playing field where we work to achieve our goals. It is a place where people earn their living and individuals make a name for themselves. It is also the arena where companies compete or collaborate to stay in business. With the changing trends brought by globalization, businesses are shifting its strategy to be efficient and productive. Professionals, therefore, must adapt to these changes and aspire for continuity of employment rather than job security. Likewise, in an organization, individuals compete with each other to get a piece of the available resources. While competition is not necessarily bad, it affects the behavior of people. As Francis J. Kong, renowned speaker and author, said in his speech at Asian Institute of Management during the launching of John Maxwell's lecture in Manila, "the corporate world can either make you a better person or otherwise". A "jungle", that's how a friend described the culture in his organization. "Men, they will eat you alive", he continued. It is a place where only the strongest thrives, a place where you have to constantly watch your back, a place where you're not sure whose on your side and whose not. He also said "you have to learn how to paddle your own canoe; do not expect help and assistance from your peers. If you can not survive on your own, you will never make it." Are you in a similar situation? Is there a proactive way in dealing with the above mentioned culture? Norman Vincent Peale once said "change your thoughts and you change the world" In response to the question, first, we have to understand the existing paradigm and second, explore an alternative paradigm. The Prevailing Paradigm Because everyone wants a piece of the available resources and they perceive management as not being fair, professionals become competitive and have taken aggressive actions to get what they want. Since management controls the purse, getting their attention in any means is the primary objective of all stakeholders. In some organization, rank and file employees get organize to compel management to enter into a collective bargaining agreement. But middle management employees have taken an individual approach, rather than the collective approach of the ranks. This group resorted to individual competition to secure a better place in the organization, or better compensation package. While some will compete according to the rules, others may resort to dirty tricks to get what they want. In this paradigm, the people looked up to management as the only most powerful person or group whose favor or wrath can make or break an employee. The ancient proverb is correct when it says: Many try to win the favor of rulers. And everyone is the friend of a man who give gifts. Prov. 19:6 (NIrV) Because of this, the people in the bottom and middle of the organization will explore all means to get something from management. Sometimes, the time-honored rules are respected, sometimes its not. People use charm, sex, deception and even violence just to attain their goal. The Alternative Paradigm Is there a more powerful group than management who can offset political activity? If we will include the Supreme Being and place him above management, a new paradigm will bring a sense of order and stillness to those who will believe. If employees believe that the Supreme Being is fair-- rewards or reprimands a person according to what he does, his behavior will change. Those in leadership position will be careful in the exercise of his management prerogatives because he is now accountable to a more powerful person who sees not only his actions, but his motives as well. On the other hand, the people beneath, will not take matters to their own hands. The thought that a just and powerful being is in control will enable the people in the middle and bottom of the organization to respect authority. The trust brought by the presence of the Supreme Being will bring balance with the expectation that justice will be served. This paradigm, however, can't be legislated because faith is a personal choice. As an individual believes, his mindset and behavior will also change. Legislation will only establish the do's and dont's but intentions can not change. Just like the old story of a father and daughter which I often heard as illustration from the teachings of Dr. David Sumrall, Undershepherd of Cathedral of Praise in Manila, Philippines: "The father said to his daughter, sit down, the daughter replied, no I will not. The Father got angry and said sit down! No I won't! The daughter shouted back. So the father forced her to sit down and said now you are sitting down. The daughter replied I may be physically sitting down but deep inside my heart I am still standing". This paradigm explores the principles of Spiritual Intelligence, it is not meant to turn the business enterprise to a religious institution but to synchronize business culture and behavior to that of the natural laws. Spiritual Intelligence is "wisdom", if recognized and observed, this will help professionals make better decisions, and in the process, take them to their goal minus the stress brought by unorthodox methods. Furthermore, this paradigm when at work, can influence the culture of an organization. So is the corporate world a jungle or bliss? It's in the paradigm of the beholder. Sonnie E. Stethoscope Is A Medical Device
by gillie hayman - Friday, 11 April 2008, 09:41 AM
Anyone in the world
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Jarl_Jacobsen] Jarl Jacobsen The stethoscope is a medical device to listen to internal sounds of the body. It is usually used to listen to the sounds of the heart or breathing and can also be used to listen to the intestines and blood flow. It was invented by Rene-Theophile-Hyacinthe Laennec in 1816. It was first just a wooden tube. In 1851 Arthur Leared invented the binaural stethoscope and that has become the standard model ever since then. Several years there the a model that was developed to connect to different locations of the body to create a stereo effect, but it didnt see as much use in the medical world then the one that Leared invented. Since the 1960s stethoscopes have taken some turns and have been refined. The acoustical performances of stethoscopes have been constantly improved over the past couple of decades. However, it was not until Dr. David Littmann invented his stethoscope that there were major changes. After his invention, many doctors began to carry around different stethoscopes than the nurses. The nurses would carry around one type, while the doctors carried the two-sided chest piece stethoscope. This becomes the stethoscope of choice in America and it is still the basis for most stethoscopes used in the medical world today. Today, the stethoscope is used to help with diagnosing many diseases and conditions. Usually, the first thing that a doctor will do is taking your blood pressure and use the stethoscope to listen. They will also ask you to take deep breaths in order to tell if anything is blocking your lungs. The stethoscope is able to transmit the sounds and exclude others. Stethoscopes are a symbol of the medial world and usually doctors or nurses are seen carrying them around their necks. One way that they are used outside the medical world is by mechanics. Stethoscopes are used to isolate sounds of particular engine parts for their own diagnosis. There are two different types of stethoscopes. One type is the acoustic stethoscope. This is to diagnose people and operates by transmission of the sound from the chest piece to the hollow tubes and to the persons ears. The chest piece usually has two sides, one a plastic disc and the other a hollow cup. A diaphragm is places on the patient to listen to the sounds or vibrates of the body. The bell or hollow cup is placed on the patient to listen to the vibrations of the skin directly sends pressure waves to the doctors ears. The bell transmits low sounds, while the diaphragm is to transmit sounds with higher sound wave frequencies. The electronic stethoscope requires the conversion of acoustic sound waves to an electrical signal. They are based on transducers and vary widely. This is not a popular type of stethoscope, but has found to be useful in certain situations. The author J. L. Jacobsen is a freelance writher, and writhe articles of difference stuff.
